Providing safe working conditions and educating employees on safe working habits can help prevent accidents, save lives, help to avoid citations by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and lower your workers’ compensation costs. AGC Houston provides multiple services to help members improve safety on their jobsites.
AGC Houston has a full-time safety director who helps members and who offers advice on OSHA compliance matters and other government agencies. Some services offered by our Safety Director include:
- Review of your safety program; Company Safety Policy development (manual preparation)
- Ensuring you have all documents required by various government agencies
- Inspecting jobsites for potential OSHA violations and unsafe acts or conditions; OSHA inspection (accompany inspector); OSHA conferences (attend with your representative); & video recording (upon request)
- Training programs for employees on OSHA standards
- Updates on OSHA regulations & other legislative changes
- Telephone consultation and safety meetings
- GC member jobsite inspections that Associate members can benefit from — visual inspection of hazards
- HAZCOM requirements; federal & state requirements; and verbal reports
- Company drug program development (policy/procedure/implementation)
- Investigation of accidents

AGC Houston + UT Arlington Safety Training Partnership
AGC Houston is proud to partner with the The Region VI OSHA Education Center at The University of Texas at Arlington. The OSHA Education Center at The University of Texas at Arlington is the top-ranked OSHA Training Institute Education Center in the country. The center provides OSHA prescribed professional and regulatory instruction through educators with decades of real world experience and leadership that upholds the highest quality standards to ensure students have training and support services required to protect workers, reduce losses, and realize the profitability of a safety and healthful work environment.
AGC + OSHA Strategic Partnership Program
All General Contractor or Subcontractor companies interested in participating in this program should contact Kim Mason at the Houston Chapter AGC for an application or more details about this program.
AGC Houston member participation is strictly voluntary and is available to companies that meet the program’s qualification requirements. The Partnership Agreement will be in effect from 2020 through 2023.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2020-2023 OSHA Partnership Program. The partnership is a cooperative effort between AGC Houston, OSHA and member companies committed to voluntarily improving their safety and health performance. Contact Kim Mason for more information or to apply.

Ray Lambright Excellence in Safety Award
Established in 1993 by the AGC Houston Safety Committee to recognize the outstanding career in safety of its namesake. This annual award named in honor of Ray Lambright whose career spanned more than 37 years and was instrumental in instituting many of the policies we follow today.
AGC Houston Safety Excellence Awards
The AGC Houston Safety Excellence Awards recognize construction companies demonstrating leadership in safety management. Nominated by industry peers, the award recipients are recognized for promoting safety excellence. Awards are presented to one large Specialty Contractor member company and one small Specialty Contractor member company.

The AGC Construction Safety and Excellence Awards (CSEA) is an ongoing and evolving effort by Associated General Contractors of America. The awards recognize companies that have developed and implemented excellent safety and loss prevention programs achieved through management commitment, employee involvement, and program innovation.
