Since its inception in 1996, the AGC Houston Patrick J. Kiley Excellence in Leadership Scholarship has supported the next generation of construction leaders. It is open to employees, interns, or dependents of employees of AGC Houston member firms, as well as members of our AGC Student Chapter. The scholarship provides funding to help develop the future leaders of our industry.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant must pursue a degree relating to a career in construction.
- This scholarship is for the upcoming 2026-27 academic year. Students graduating in Spring 2026 or earlier are not eligible to apply.
- Applicant Must be One of the Following:
- Applicant must be an employee, intern, or dependent of an employee of an AGC Houston member firm or an AGC Student Chapter member.
- Current high school seniors and college students are eligible to apply.
- Applicant must be enrolled in a college or university during fall semester 2026.
Award Information:
- Award Amounts
- Multiple awards are given each year. Scholarship award amounts will vary for each selected scholarship recipient.
- Funding may only be claimed during the 2026-27 academic year.
- What can this scholarship be used for?
- The scholarship will be mailed directly to the student's college to be used towards tuition, required academic fees, and/or book expenses.
- Scholarship funding cannot be distributed directly to the student. Funding cannot be used for room and board, rent, meal plans, parking passes, or other similar living expenses.
- Are there any requirements I must meet if I'm selected as a scholarship recipient?
- Student may be enrolled part-time or full-time in college. No minimum enrollment hours required.
- Student must continue pursuing a degree relating to a career in construction to remain eligible for funding.
- If selected for a scholarship, student must submit college enrollment information online through GHCF Scholar the summer before the academic year begins. This information is required in order for the scholarship check to be mailed to the student's college. Instructions will be included in the student's award letter if selected.

- One (1) personal biography essay
- Three (3) short-response essays (prompts listed on the application) Financial information
- Two (2) recommendation forms to be completed through GHCF Scholar by personal references
- Academic transcript (unofficial transcripts are accepted)
- Education information
- Resume form (involvement and employment history)
Application Process
Our scholarship application is managed by The Greater Houston Community Foundation. Applicants will need to create an account, identify the scholarship and complete the online application. All applicants selected as finalists will be interviewed by the AGC Houston Scholarship Committee in February-March 2026.
